NEBOSH‘s Certificate-level qualifications give a good foundation in health and safety for Managers, Supervisors and staff with Health and Safety among their day-to-day responsibilities.
These qualifications are widely taken as a first step towards a career in Health and Safety and are accepted by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health – in meeting the Academic requirements for Technical Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH)
What does the qualification cover?
The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) covers the principles relating to health and safety, identification and control of workplace hazards and the practical application of this knowledge. The IGC syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international standards, such as the International Labor Organization (ILO) codes of practice. Local laws and cultural factors may form part of the study program where relevant and appropriate.
With in-depth focus on the things that matter, the NEBOSH International General Certificate covers the core skills you need, wherever in the world you work. You will learn:
How to effectively manage health and safety
How to identify and control common workplace hazards
How to measure if you’ve been successful
Relevant key international standards
With effect from January 2020, NEBOSH has a introduced a new version of the International General Certificate, which would be divided into two units only, each of which is assessed separately:
IG1 – Management of health and safety – Theory paper
IG2 – Risk Assessment – Practical unit
This means there would be only 1 written exam & 1 practical submission – both IGC-1 and IGC-2 will be marked by NEBOSH directly.
